On-Demand Toolkit

 

The Canadian Urban Transit Association, Metrolinx, and Leading Mobility Consulting partnered to develop the first national On-Demand Transit Toolkit to help advise transit agencies on the service design objectives, implementation strategies, and evaluation for their on-demand transit projects. The toolkit represents a summary of known research, case studies across Canada, information from current deployments, recommendations from vendors and documented analysis where it can be used to help inform future decisions on this growing service delivery model.

Transit agencies and decision makers can benefit from using this toolkit to gain key insights about implementing On-Demand Transit. The toolkit covers five themes: planning, operations, accessibility, customer experience and performance evaluation.

Through this project, 27 transit agencies from across Canada participated in this project in working group meetings, providing data and analysis along with their insights on what has worked and not worked in the planning and deployment of their On-Demand transit services.  On-Demand transit vendors also provided valuable insights about their technology and lessons learned from several deployments.
